I love this little washer, February 16, 2012 By heyheygrl

I live in a small apt and this was the perfect thing for my family alot of people complain that it leaks some from hoses my did to but i purchased some plumbers tape and no leaks anywhere i wash a small load and hang in bathroom with a little space heater best purchase this month :D

Fantastic Value!
, January 28, 2012 By killcity

Love this thing. It's quiet, hooks into your sink (I extended the hoses with clamps and hose from Home Depot) and just does the job. Prior to having this in my house I was stuck heading to the local laundromat, which is demoralizing to say the least. Now I use this + a drying rack and I'm good to go.

For anyone with a small apartment and shared laundry, this is a MUST. Totally worth the money. The construction and performance of the unit is really good (so far), so go for it!.

We love our washer!, January 7, 2012 By Gen

I can honestly say that we have used this machine every day for eight months and we love it! We even wash cloth diapers in it and as long as it is not over loaded it will clean very well. There is a bit of a learning curve when it comes to operating it so here is what i have to pass on:
  1. Read ALL the instructions! (we missed the part about venting the water hose to a sink as tall as the machine and had leaks until i did)
  2. Don't over load it, Especially on your first wash! (if you do have an issue and need to stop it's a lot easier if you don't have a big load of wet dirty clothes to deal with as well)
  3. Secure the water venting hose! (The water will come out with a bit of pressure and can propel the hose out of the sink draining all over the floor)
  4. Be mindful of old pluming. (we have old pipes in our bathroom and they couldn't take the water pressure and did leak)

Fabulous, December 26, 2011 By m6789

I've had this washer for a couple months now . . . and I love it!

Set up was very easy (I got a T-connector for less than $20 to take the water from my showerhead, I can swivel the water between the washer and the shower, no need to reconnect anything, and it was very simple to find the right part at the hardware store.) It's quite compact and fits well in my bathroom. Cleans clothes great! Even better than my previous standard-sized front loader.

This unit will pay for itself monetarily in no time . . . and has already paid for itself in terms of my time setting it up, by my not having to sit around scroungy laundromats on weekends!

What a wonderful item

We bought this item cause I can no longer go to the local laundry mart since it is not handicapp accessible. But this Item in my own home has been a great wonderful fantaastic and an enjoyable product! It only takes a very small amount of detergent and it rinses into the sink drain and then spin so dry that shirts take less than 15 minuts ahnging to dry. WHAT A GREAT ITEM.

I can not sing its praises in the space provided, but you will love it! DO NOT overload and in 60-90 min [Depending upon wash duration you choose,] the clothes are clean and they are almost dry to boot!

I had to download the instruction book offline cause I threw it away accidentally. My unit came inside a box that was inside a box with big bubble-wrap in between the boxes. But even that was not difficult. I hope that anyone who orders this can enjoy it as much as I do.

Amazingly enough it only took three loads to figure out the correct weight in KG vs lbs [1 lb = 2.2 kg] and if you follow the instructions you will have clean clothes that are darn near free.

I have tracked that I spend on average $45.50 per month to wash and dry...but with my investment, it will take about 5 months to pay for itself. WHAT a bargain. It was worth the wait! It dropped $200.00 after Thanksgiving and I loved shopping for it.

Whatever you do get this washer. It will make your life so much easier!

This is a Spectacular Product!!!!, December 8, 2011 By Selrahc Tenitram "Charles" (San Francisco Ca.)

It should be 100 stars, out of 5!!!!
I absolutely LOVE my Haier washer. The 1.5 cubic foot is the way to go! Don't buy the 1 cu ft.
The energy cost is about $21-$30 a year!!!!!!
It gets my clothes as clean as ANY washer.
It uses much less soap than regular washers.
It is quiet.
The short cycle is great for most things (22 mins).
It is big enough to wash a sofa cover! And cal king sheets and pillow covers, all at once...that's why you want this instead of the 1 cu ft. I don't think it's much bigger, but it does so much! I can do one to two loads a week, and it takes care of everything.
It's just a spectacular product. Really... Quiet, efficient, easy to use. I can't say enough about it. I would heartily recommend this product. It is so much cheaper and more convenient than going to a laundry mat, and so much more SANITARY! It is inexpensive to operate.... pennies a load, versus $5 a load...Everything about it is amazing! I wish I had had it ten years ago!!!!!
To me, it is the most beautiful thing in my kitchen! I don't care that it is out. I don't have a cabinet for it... but I would move anything else out of the house to give it space. The most useful product I've ever own!

Best little washer, November 12, 2011 By Lo Lo

I bought this washer because I live on the third floor, and I was tired of lugging clothes down all those stairs. I love this washer machine it works just as good as a regular size washer. It takes a little longer to wash clothes but it is worth it. It was very easy to put together. Only con is it doesn't have any wheels, so I have to push it to the sink every time I want to wash. Other then that it was a great investment.

NYC deal, November 2, 2011 By hypedna

Just got my HLP23E last week, still on test-washing laundry mode. Best price at J & R Music World for $219.99 (less than $240 including tax for NYC resident) plus a free $10 giftcard (store's anniversary). There's 4 of these left after my purchase. Can park car in a parking garage 2 blocks away, spend $200 or over in store for free 2 hr parking, use your driver's license to borrow a large push cart from store & easily haul it back to parking garage. Washer fit into backseat of my mid size sedan (do need one person pushing & another person pulling inside backseat area). BTW, if you're petite like me, you do need a friend to help move this washer from store to inside your home.

Gift From the Heavens!!!
, October 21, 2011 By lucasfamily

My husband and I live in an apartment with no washer or dryer. For a year we've gone to a laundry mat with no A/C every week and spend $25-$30. I finally had enough when I saw a homeless man eating out of the trash inside the laundry mat just a few feet from me! I went online that day to look for a small washer and dryer that would work with a 120 v outlet. I kept seeing Haier brand and read all the reviews and decided to purchase them from home depot which was the best price and most well know website. To sweeten the deal Home Depot had a discount offer at this time that got us $25.00 off our purchase which made the price cheaper than the other websites. Yay! We were happy so far.... Even better we got the washer and dryer in less than a week and both at the same time. Hooking up the washer was super easy just connecting some hoses to the bathroom sink. I was so surprised how much I could fit in one load. The largest load it fit and washed perfectly was 3 of my husband's work jeans and 2 of my jeans. In just 3 loads I had all my laundry done. It was very quiet but the swishing noises made my kitten and dog curious. Also I used the Downey ball and it work perfectly! Largest wash load took only about 45min. I'm so sorry I waited so long to buy this washer, it works great and I'm very happy with the size and price. Haier washing machine:$219.00, Price per YEAR to use:$38.00, Not wondering who washed their clothes in the washer before me and watching a homeless man eat from the trash while sitting in a laundry mat for over 2 hours: PRICELESS!!!

A must have if you live in an apartment/condo and do not have a designated spot for washer, October 3, 2011 By E. Akkas
(REAL NAME)

If you live in a house and have space for a full size, skip this review and the machine. This is not the device for you and it will not be fair if you buy it and compare to a full set. But if you live in a apartment/condo with limited space, this will save your most trips to the laundry room.

Also, people who are highly attached to a dryer may not find the entire experience very pleasant at the beginning. However that is a temporary side effect and will disappear by continued use. Not only your clothes will smell nicer naturally, and will last longer, you will also help save green house gasses by letting nature dry your clothes organically instead of by burning fossil fuels. That being said, some of that energy will now be required for the iron as nature lacks in that area a bit (clothes dried on a rack after out of this thing will be wrinkled). However, you cannot beat the feeling of a nicely ironed and fold tshirt.

We still go to the laundry room for sheets and stuff as it gets a bit painful to dry those big items. Plus this washer is not very efficient on the water use so for larger and less frequently washed items laundry room is a better choice.

It does what it is supposed to do and it is great to be able to soak clothes (cant do that very well with the laundry room). We leave the whites sitting with a bit of bleach over night and after the wash next day, whites look really white. Noise doesn't bother us all that much but could be a bit more annoying if you are in a studio or something.

All in all a great product for a small(er) living space.

Very pleased with this washer, September 21, 2011 By R. Bratton "codeman" (Tennessee)
(REAL NAME)

I just purchased this 1.5 cb ft (washes 8.8 Lbs.) washer. This washer works great. It was up and running 10 minutes after it got here. Very easy setup. On Standard setting all my clothes came out clean. It has 6 Cycle Options, 4 water levels. Spin dry gets clothes as dry as any washing machine. Very quiet. Had all the parts needed to hook to facet. Need Philip's Head screw driver to place sound limiter (plastic vented sheet part) to bottom, 4 screws, is all. Simple. Took only a minute. I'm getting as good of results as Laundry Matt I used to use. Very happy with purchase HIGHLY recommend it. Home Depot is worth checking first on price.

Engel freezer/refrigerator, portable 12 volt/110volt, December 17, 2011 By Dieter Reese "dieter reese" (simi valley Ca)
(REAL NAME)

Over the years I had several portable freezers/refigerators,in various sizes, mostly Norcold brand. We use them on trips to and from our house in Mexico, where we spend 6 weeks at a time. This MT45F-U1 is my first Engel purchase, and it went on its first trip right after we received it. All I can say is, that this unit meets and exceeds all my expectations. It gets cold very fast on 12 or 110 volt. The humming noise which some other users mentioned, in my view, is not worth mentioning, it is hardly noticable. The unit is built very rugged and is of excellent quality.

Amazon came through on price and delivery. I needed the unit fast, as my old freezer gave out 3 days before my trip. I paid a few dollars extra for expedided delivery and received the unit as promised by Amazon and their supplier, even though it came all the way across the country. This made me a very "happy camper"

I can highly recomend this Engel freezer/refrigerator and Amazon.

big$, but the best

shipped quick, well packed, works like you'd expect. i chose this cooler for a camper remodel, i was planning for a fixed 12 volt refer & then realized the advantages of a cooler that can be moved to another vehicle or outside if it's a hot night, then couple it to a soler charger and you got COLD BEER...

Expensive but you get what you pay for
, January 29, 2011 By JK (Dairyland)

This freezer is based on the Sawafuji "swing" compressor. Unlike the fairly similar and far less costly EdgeStar FP430 which uses a Danfoss compressor, the Engel MT45F is specifically designed to be operated in a moving vehicle, and can be run while at an angle of up to 30 degrees. It pulls a maximum of 2.5 paltry amps at 12 volts DC (the Edgestar draws 2.75 amps max, but can get food a little colder). It has a steel exterior, while the similar but less expensive ARB Fridge Freezer, which also uses the swing compressor, has a tough plastic housing, which might be a better choice for boaters.

The Engel is built like a tank, and comes with a 2-year factory warranty. I've had mine running while driving over thousands of miles of rutted dirt and gravel roads, and it works as well as the day it was new.

My biggest beefs with the Engel are: the price, which is close to twice that of the comparable Edgestar and more than the ARB; the storage capacity, which is pretty small; and the primitive controls--no temperature readout, and only a single dial marked 1 - 5. A more minor gripe is that the compressor hum, while not terribly loud, does seem to carry--you'll know when the Engel is running. Also, it is heavy. Those big steel handles are there for a reason (they also make good tie-down points).

Engel Is a Centerfold, December 7, 2010 By Old Timer "otOT747y" (Deep South Texas)

I am happy with Engel MR040F-U1 after my first month of use in a van-camping environment with 117 VAC. "Engel" is German for "Angel", it is designed in Japan, and the compressor has only one moving part, the piston; that is fewer moving parts to wear out, less energy-loss to friction and heat, and more energy-efficient operation. Mine is holding a fairly steady 33F degrees on my wireless refrigerator/freezer thermometer. The top is a good table surface for cooking with my cool-on-the-outside rice cooker. I sleep with my head cushioned against the compressor end, so when it cycles on, I hear the hum and feel the vibration. Sawafuji, the Japanese company, is existing from year 1908, and after 100 years of operation, in year 2008, have introduced this lightweight dent- and rust-proof plastic-exterior model among their regular steel-exterior models.

Great freezer, November 19, 2010 By G. Rogers (Grand Rapids, MI USA)
(REAL NAME)

We have been using this freezer for about 1-1/2 years. It works great. We carry it in a storage compartment on our travel trailer, wired to both 110AC and 12 volt DC. It keeps everything solidly frozen, even in 90+ F weather. The thermometer almost always says exactly 0 degrees. When not traveling we have used it for extra refrigerator space, and in the car to keep things cold while grocery shopping. It's expensive, but very well made. I recommend it to others.

Bigest unit I could get., July 4, 2010 By Rafael

Very large cooling box, cooled empty to -17C in 2 hours, Using 12 volts battery it draws 3.5 amps when first started then reduced to 2.8 amps. when compressor is on. I did not have a chance to operate it regularly yet, it gives the impression of a good craftsmanship.

reliable, rugged, works great, September 18, 2009 By Ryo Chijiiwa (California, USA)
(REAL NAME)

I bought this freezer so that I can freeze meats and make ice when I'm camping or on my vacant, undeveloped land. I've been traveling with it for the last month or so, and I can say it works great. It'll freeze a bottle of water over night, and is also cold enough to freeze meats. I've run it off of AC, in my car (plugged into the cigarette lighter), and also off a 12V deep cycle battery, and has worked consistently from all power sources. It'll work just fine even in the heat, especially at the highest setting. At night, or if it's cool, you might be fine using a lower setting and save some power.

The only downside is its weight, but the handles are sturdy enough that you won't have to worry about carrying it around (hopefully with someone else's help).

Best cooling solution I've found for a professional driver!!, August 8, 2009 By Jean

I almost never review a product, but I couldn't resist when I realized that Amazon carried these refrigerators. Like others, I purchased this after getting fed up with thermoelectric coolers that either didn't keep food cold or froze it.

PROS: Excellent quality!!! - Purchased mine in 2005 and have had no maintenance issues.
Not Picky about ventilation - mine sits in the closet of my Peterbilt.
Metal exterior - It's sturdy enough for me to use it as a step stool.
Good Capacity - I'm gone 4 day at a time and it holds all the food and water i need
Great power management - Can leave it on while my truck sets for 3 or 4 day without killing the batteries

CONS: Weight- appx. 50 lbs. Only a problem if you need to move it often, but the durability is worth it.
Price - Fairly pricey, but it has paid for itself many times over!

Another Danfoss based compressor fridge/freezer for 12V systems, February 5, 2009 By HMMWV "God, Country, Corps" (santa clara, CA USA)

Once I decided to switch from thermoelectric inefficient coolers to a professional refrigeration system I found many sizes and designs. The heart of all the systems is the Danfoss compressor which is simply a 12 (and often 24V optional) compressor using environmentally friendly R134 coolant just like a home fridge would. These units all have strong cooling and even freezing capabilities like a home freezer would.

What I found is the Engel 35 is smaller and higher priced than the Portable refrigerator & freezer 12/24 V or 110 V which is slightly larger and around $200 cheaper. Both units can easily swallow 4 12 packs of drinks with room left over and both use the same refrigeration system making them friendly on your car / truck / boat's electrical system. A complete comparison of the difference in a thermoelectric cooler and a compressor based cooler is on the EdgeStar page. It explains why these cost more and can actually cool down 40+ cans from room temp rather than requiring you to pre-freeze any items going into the cooler such as the thermoelectric units do.

While both units are comparable, you get more for your money in the Edgestar 43 system. It comes down to what fits in your vehicle at this point.

SPT model WC-12 Wine Cooler, August 21, 2010
By SB

I just bought this a couple of weeks ago. It is great so far. It holds either small bottles or large bottles of wine. If you use large bottles, you just have to remove the shelf above. It keeps the wine cool and is quiet. The only draw back was that it was too tall to put on the counter if you have over counter cabinets. I put it on a small table in the utility room. It is a perfect size otherwise.

Works Great, good unit for the price, December 21, 2011 By luv2trvl

I read several reviews on this Ice Maker and was a little concerned when I saw comments regarding the speed of making ice and the reliability of the unit. I can only speak of the speed as I have only had this box for a month and the ice tray is completely full every day so no problems there. I purchased a table top box prior to this unit and it broke down after 3 months and was a real pain to it full. This box you just hook it up and forget about it and there is ice available when you need it. I do recommend replacing the plastic fittings and hose with copper tubing with brass fittings. It took me 30 minutes to get the box installed and it has worked like a champ ever since then.

Happy So Far., October 15, 2011 By Bob

Like most people I read and studied all reviews prior to buying, the only reviews that caught my eye was the ones that said the unit was loud and the water connector fitting didnt work well. Well I installed this in my motorhome replaced the plastic fitting with a brass one (Recommended) and turned on the unit, makes more ice than I could possibly use and I dont find it to be loud at all. So overall I'm very pleased.

I Liiiike it!, October 6, 2011 By Happy Hildey

I first hooked this bad boy up, made one tray of ice and that was it. Figured there must be air in the water line. Turned it off, waited awhile, turned it on and it hasn't quit since. I use it to keep my outdoor ice chest full of ice and for drinks for my guests. I was very happy with the delivery by the vendor. It was right on time even though FedEx delivered to the house accross the street by mistake

Edgestar Icemaker, July 23, 2011 By gcamp38

This machine is one of the best I have ever used. Installation was quick and easy, including the optional filter I installed. The ice tray was filled within a few hours and the machine stays ahead of the use of a family of four. Great machine.

Excellent small refridgerator

Impressive fridge! I use this in my garage gym for drinks after workouts. Since I am in Arizona, it often reaches as high as 110 in the garage and this little fridge keeps my set point at 38 degrees F no problem despite the high heat. Stainless steel construction and leveling feet (with optional casters) shows that it is a quality, well thought out product. Took a few hours to do its initial cool down. Fairly quiet and solid construction. Modern stainless steel construction with the LCD backlit panel should compliment almost any decor. Was packaged well when it arrived...took about 30 minutes to unbox and setup. Only have had it a few weeks but impressed with the initial results.

This machine is one of the best I have ever used. Installation was quick and easy, including the optional filter I installed. The ice tray was filled within a few hours and the machine stays ahead of the use of a family of four. Great machine.
